Decide which SEASIDE Biology class(es) you would like to take. If you have questions about class schedules, activities, pre-requisites, or space remaining, contact the SEASIDE office, the director <cindy.staicer@dal.ca> Dr. Cindy Staicer, or the instructor for the class.
Click here for a list of the AUXILIARY FEES associated with each class. You have to pay these fees in addition to the tuition for a half-credit science class. If you are not a Dal science student, contact Student Accounts to figure out what your tuition costs would be.
Registration requires four steps. BOTH of the first two steps are necessary to save yourself a place in each class and to get the electronic signature required to register for the class. If you are not currently a student at Dalhousie please see the special instructions at the bottom of the page.
In Brief:
Step 1: Submit completed SEASIDE information form
Step 2: Pay deposit(s) AFTER you are notified by Carolyn Young that there is space for you and that Student Accounts is ready for your deposit (as of Feb 18, they are still NOT ready)
Step 3: Register
Step 4: Pay remaining auxiliary fee and tuition

Step 2 . Pay your deposit at Student Accounts in person, by mail or electronic banking. We strongly recommend that you pay in person to ensure that the deposit is applied to the appropriate account. If you pay by electronic banking it's critical that you e-mail Cathy Gillis with your name, Banner ID number, the classes for which you have paid the $100 deposits. Please also send an e-mail to seaside@dal.ca to let us know that you have paid your deposit so that we can follow up if there are any problems.
Please Note: Once your completed information form has been received at the SEASIDE office and we have been notified by Student Accounts that your deposit has been paid, you will be given permission (an electronic signature) which will allow you to register for the class. There is a delay of 2-3 working days between the date deposits are paid and the date that Student Accounts notifies us that they have been paid. Permission to take classes with much more demand than space will be decided by the Director of SEASIDE, Dr. Cindy Staicer, according to qualifying criteria, including degree program, year in program, and pre-requisites taken. Deposits will be refunded to students who are turned down or if a class is cancelled due to low enrolment.
Step 3. Register on-line, after you have been notified by e-mail that you are cleared to register in the class. Dalhousie On-line Registration for Spring and Summer classes begins at 10:00 AM on Friday February 24, 2012. If for some reason the classes are not ready for registration, don't worry - we will llet you know and save your place int eh meantime.
Pay the remainder of your Auxilliary Fee and your Dal tuition for the class to Student Accounts no later than two weeks prior to the first scheduled day of the class. Please note: The deposit is non-refundable. Students who drop a course are charged the deposit, but the remainder of auxiliary fees and tuition are refunded.
Important Information for Non-Dalhousie Students
If you are an undergraduate student at another university and you would like to receive credit toward your degree at your home university, please get a Letter of Permission from your Faculty Office of your home university AND apply to Dalhousie as a Visiting Student using the Undergraduate Application for Admission at http://www.registrar.dal.ca/forms/home.htm
If you are not an undergraduate student at any university and would simply like to take a class out of interest, you will need to apply to Dalhousie as a Special Student using the Undergraduate Application for Admission at http://www.registrar.dal.ca/forms/home.htm
You may complete and submit your SEASIDE Information Form (Step 1 above) while your Dalhousie application is in process. Please note on your form the date you submitted your application. Fees can't be paid without a Dalhousie student number, thus Steps 2, 3 and 4 must wait until you have been admitted to Dalhousie and have been assigned a Dalhousie student number (B00______). Please don't delay applying to Dalhousie as the entire process depends on this and we can't reserve space in classes if others pay their deposits first!
For Dalhousie admission procedures please contact the Registrar's office (902) 494-2450 <registrar@dal.ca> or visit their web site http://www.registrar.dal.ca.
